The beach

Barbarossa beach is located in a narrow, well-protected gulf; it is the perfect destination for scuba and snorkelling enthusiasts. It is never overcrowded, not even in high season; most of the beach offers free access, however part of the area is equipped with rental sun lounges and beach umbrellas. The seabed is prevalently gravel with a few sandy areas and rock reefs that delimit the bay.

There is a qualified scuba diving school at the beach, mooring for boats, pedal boats, beach umbrellas and sun loungers for rent. You can either walk across the rocks or take a short swim to Barbarossa cove, a small beach with fine gravel beneath a wall of red earth, eroded with small gullies which, when seen from afar, looks just like a red beard, thus its name Barbarossa.

The town of Porto Azzurro can be reached by following a beautiful panoramic path that starts from the right end of the beach. The path offers a breathtaking view and it is also perfect for walking your pets.

The Ristorante Barbarossa is situated on the charming beach it is named after; it has large glass windows and a spacious patio facing the beach. The pleasant, hospitable atmosphere invites guests to relax as they enjoy a cold aperitif and the chef’s excellent cuisine. Our chef will enchant you with his artful combinations of fresh island fish and the flavours typical of Mediterranean cooking.

The Breakfast and happy hour at the Ristorante Barbarossa are a real pleasure; the restaurant also offers the possibility of full board, half-board and take-away, as well as a well-stocked mini-market and smoke shop.
