Barbarossa beach is located in a narrow, well-protected gulf; it is the perfect destination for scuba and snorkelling enthusiasts. It is never overcrowded, not even in high season; most of the beach offers free access, however part of the area is equipped with rental sun lounges and beach umbrellas. The seabed is prevalently gravel with a few sandy areas and rock reefs that delimit the bay.
There is a qualified scuba diving school at the beach, mooring for boats, pedal boats, beach umbrellas and sun loungers for rent. You can either walk across the rocks or take a short swim to Barbarossa cove, a small beach with fine gravel beneath a wall of red earth, eroded with small gullies which, when seen from afar, looks just like a red beard, thus its name Barbarossa.
The town of Porto Azzurro can be reached by following a beautiful panoramic path that starts from the right end of the beach. The path offers a breathtaking view and it is also perfect for walking your pets.
The Ristorante “Osteria Moresca” is located directly on the beach of Barbarossa, surrounded by an enchanting bay. The chef offers traditional and creative dishes in a combination of Mediterranean flavors and using high quality ingredients. Gluten-free cuisine is also possible. The warm welcome characterizes the image of the Osteria Moresca. The pizzeria also offers out-of-home sales on request.
The bar’s terrace is the ideal place to enjoy a cool aperitif. Inside the Osteria Moresca there is a mini market stocked with basic groceries and camping equipment.
